Wizard of Oz Charity Gala

On 15th February 2011, High Society staff were out in force at The London Palladium. The event was a fabulous charity gala performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz. The gala was in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity ‘Theatres for Theatres’ Appeal, and was intended to celebrate and aid the £20 million refurbishment of Covent Garden’s London Palladium.

Staff served champagne and wine to red-carpet guests throughout the award-winning performance of the hit musical, which starred Danielle Hope, winner of hit television series ‘Over The Rainbow, as the iconic Dorothy Gale. Michael Crawford, who garnered great critical acclaim playing the title role in Phantom of the Opera, and is renowned for his role in the classic British sitcom ‘Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em’, played the wizard himself.

As the after-show party kicked off, High Society staff mingled with the cast and guests, serving canapĂ©s to the likes of socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Arlene Phillips, ex-judge on BBC prime time show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and choreographer for this production, also enjoyed the celebrations.
